Areca Palms are native to Madagascar. This palm can be grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 10a-11. Arecas like moderate to full sun. Areca Palms are widely popular in South Florida but they are almost extinct in their native Madagascar. Areca Palms grows at a moderate rate and adapt well to a broad range of soil types. A mature Areca Palm can reach heights of up to 20'. This palm makes a great hedge and is virtually maintenance free unlike Ficus and other ornamentals.
